In the Activation Wizard, choose I want to activate the software by telephone. When you call the Activation Center, you'll be asked to provide the installation ID displayed on your screen and other relevant information.
After your installation ID is verified, you'll receive a confirmation ID. In the Activation Wizard, type the confirmation ID in the spaces provided at the bottom of the screen, and then press the Enter key.
Tip: If you still can't activate Office, call the activation number, but don't enter anything or say anything. You'll be transferred to someone who can help you. Your Office license allows you to reinstall Office on the same computer, and some licenses allow you to activate Office on more than one computer. But if you try activating Office and you get a message that you have installed it too many times, use the telephone option in the Activation Wizard to contact a support technician.

If you don't activate your software, eventually Office switches to Reduced Functionality mode where it lets you open files to view them but not edit them. Ive just upgraded to win 10, wish i had stuck with win7. Also, google chome on win 10 defualt veiw is so small, its like theyv done it to mak you use MS edge which i wont be using any ideas how to get around this - ive played with appearence settings but can only make the fonts too big thanks. Whenever I try to activate it via Internet, I get the following error message and activation fails : "An unspecified error has occurred.
Your request cannot be processed at this time. Please try again later. Another peculiar thing is if I select the "Activate by phone" option, in the screen that follows, whatever country I select from the drop-down list, it doesn't display any telephone numbers.
Further, instead of the actual installation id, it shows "[installation code]" and all the fields for me to enter the Confirmation Id are disabled. I'm hoping someone here may be able to help me with this problem. Other information that may be useful: During installation, when I enter the Product Key, it validates properly, but activation does not take place. I started those services and even set them to automatic , but still it has been of no use. I even downloaded and installed all the updates, but no progress I took ownership of that folder and set the appropriate permissions, but it still is not activating.
I even called up Microsoft's helpline a Bangalore number, meaning an STD call , but after a long investigative chat with me, the Tech Rep said that it was because my version of office was Geo locked and could "never be activated in this region".
However, when I returned the box back to the vendor, he tried it on his PC and it installed and activated properly. Thus, the problem seems to be with my laptop! I looked up the Net and have tried many of the so-called solutions, but none seems to work.
I have uninstalled and re-installed MS Office an umpteen number of times and am nearly at my wits end. I hope someone here can help me with this problem. Regards, Sunil Edit: Oct Hi all, After working for nearly 2 weeks with a Microsoft Tech Support guy, I have finally managed to get it to activate! The problem was due to conflicting access permissions on the system both, to some system folders on the C drive as well as to some keys in the registry.
And that's it! It installed and activated with no problems at all. I say "luckily" because we had tried nearly everything and nothing seemed to work. But whatever was causing the block went away with my old hard disk and the installation worked smoothly on my freshly re-installed Windows.
Of course, I now have to reinstall another programs on my machine. But, that's another story altogether. Once again, thanks to those of you who tried to help. This thread is locked. This will usually complete successfully and activate the software. Please provide it to them immediately. Step 3 : Confirmation ID This will be provided by the support to you that you need to enter from boxes A to H to proceed with the activation. You may click on Next after entering the ID to complete the activation.
